The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged certain individuals in connection with a plot to assassinate the former president of the United States, Donald Trump. It is reported that some Iranian officials told Farhad Shakeri, aged 51 years and residing in Tehran, to watch and eventually kill Trump before the presidential elections that have been conducted.
Background of the Donald Trump’s Killing Allegations
In September, reports say that Iran’s officials instructed Shakeri to only allow himself to be concerned with targeting Donald Trump.
In the first place, Shakeri had been under the guidance of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and was planning other targeted assassinations of U.S. and Israeli citizens.
But on October 7 of this year, IRGC officers allegedly instructed Shakeri to prepare a plan within seven days to target Trump.
Shakeri, a citizen of Afghanistan residing in Tehran, reportedly told the investigators that the plan was still active, but the IRGC might delay it if he failed to complete the objective in good time, as he was expecting that Trump would not win the elections.
Other Accounts and Arrests
Shakeri is believed to be hiding in Iran. However, two Americans were arrested in New York. One of them is said to be Carlisle Rivera and the other, Loadholt Jonathan. Both have been accused of working with Shakeri in hostage-taking operations and are U.S. citizens of Iranian origin.
